Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, Chairman of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group of Companies, received the Minister of Tourism, HE Mrs. Fatima Al Sairafi at the YBA Kanoo Tower in the Diplomatic Area, to discuss the latest updates of the Kanoo Family Museum, that is currently being developed in the place of the former historic YBA Kanoo headquarters located in Manama.

Group Chairman Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo affirmed that the visit of HE Mrs. Fatima Al Sairafi and the tourism authority delegation is a testament of the significant and continuous collaboration between the public and private sectors, in successfully implementing a number of important community initiatives, reiterating his confidence in the fruitful  partnership the company has with the Ministry of Tourism which can bolster the project’s stature, value and contribute in introducing a new beacon on the Kingdom’s cultural map.

The Minister of Tourism stated during her visit that the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibition Authority (BTEA) is currently developing an operational plan which aims to exemplify the Kanoo Museum and encourage other family, industrial and commercial companies in Bahrain to follow suit. The Kanoo Museum can also be included among the Kingdom’s most prominent museum destinations, with the opportunity of scheduling private tours for visitors who are passionate about learning the history of commerce and business in the region.

Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo commented on the Minster’s visit, saying: “We are proud to be among the pioneers of family-owned businesses in the GCC, and there is no doubt that the establishment of the Kanoo Museum is the ideal method to document the illustrious history of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group of more than 130 years, as well as archiving the strong family values that we have continued to hold on to. Through this initiative, we aim to also commemorate the achievements of our forefathers by inaugurating a museum in the Group’s first headquarters in the heart of Manama, situated near Bab AlBahrain, which will have an engaging display of documents and historical exhibits.

He also added that the museum will become an important destination for market visitors, where they can learn more about key historical milestones of the trade industry in the GCC, while help to achieve tourism excellence locally and regionally. The Chairman stressed the keenness of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group to develop a community partnership with government entities in various fields, particularly with The Ministry of Tourism and its promising tourism projects which plays a significant role in the economic, social and cultural development of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
