The Minister of Industry & Commerce HE Zayed Bin Rashid Al-Zayani has applauded the initiatives of YBA Kanoo and their goals of preserving the economic memory of the Kingdom of Bahrain that has been copious with achievements and contributions of the notable family businesses throughout the decades, contributing to the economic development process in the Kingdom and the region.

This came during the visit of His Excellency the Minister of Industry & Commerce to the Kanoo Tower in the diplomatic area, during which he met Group Chairman Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, Deputy Group Chairman Mr. Fawzi Ahmed Kanoo, a number of Kanoo Family members and officials in the company, during which he toured the headquarters and was presented with the Group’s aspirations on the cultural development & contributions towards our Corporate Social Responsibility.

On this occasion, HE Mr. Zayed Al-Zayani expressed his great appreciation for the efforts made by Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo under the leadership of the Group Chairman Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo and his proposition for the future of the organisation.

For his part, the Group Chairman welcomed the visit of the Minister of Industry & Commerce Mr. Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani and his accompanying delegation, which is sought as an affirmation on the importance of the partnership between the public and private sectors in the contributions to the social and cultural initiatives, praising the Ministry’s role in providing all the support and facilities required for the private sector to further contribute to the progress and development of the Kingdom.

Group Chairman Mr. Khalid M. Kanoo said: “We are proud to be one of the leading Gulf family businesses, and the establishment of the Kanoo Museum is an ideal way to document the 132-year history of Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo’s economic footprint in the region and to showcase the family’s values that we continue to adhere to.” Adding in the same context: “We would like to honour our founding fathers by establishing a museum in the former Kanoo HQ previously located in the heart of Manama near Bab Al Bahrain, in which a very large collection of interesting historical documents and artefacts will be displayed and we are very pleased to allocate the important building to be a new centre for historical knowledge and culture.”

The Kanoo Museum will represent a new addition to the market and will become an important destination for visitors, where the most important historical centres of the commercial sector in the Arab Gulf region will be displayed, and the museum will also contribute to promoting tourism excellence at the level of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the wider region collectively.
